17 Months Old

Dear Braelyn and Bailey,

I wish I would have done this post each month for your entire lives for your blog scrapbook, but I guess better late than never. Yesterday was your 17 Month Birthday! I can't believe how the time has flown. I am so thankful that dada has a good job where I can stay at home and savor every minute with y'all. We laugh, tickle, dance, sing, slide, watch cartoons, eat, sleep, and play outside. Here are some of the things you are doing now:

You can front kick (of course I have already started teaching you martial arts!)
You can say: pun bob (Sponge Bob), dog dog, hi, bye bye, moo moo, dada, momma, Muh (Grammy), nana, night night, kei kei (uncle Keith), mae mae (cousin meagan), Papa, Nah (Neenah), no (of course!), slide, side (outside), sissy (Bailey's word for Braelyn), and sisser (Braelyn's word for Bailey)
You know these places on your body when I ask you to point to them: head, nose, ears, mouth, tongue, teeth, belly, hands, feet, and hiney (your dada taught you that one!!!)
You roar when asked what a lion says. You say "woof woof" when asked what a dog says. You can do the monkey sound and a high pitched "meow" for a cat.
You point your fingers at me all the time and say "no no no no no"
Your favorite shows are Miss Spider's Sunnypatch Friends, Elmo, Sponge Bob, Baby Einstein, Dora, Yo Gabba Gabba, Sid the Science Kid, Word World, and Wonder Pets.

Bailey - You love to eat. I could watch you eat for days because you savor every single bite! You never fill up. You will eat anything that I hand you and lots of things that I don't give you that I have to take away from you..ha! You love to give me kisses! I wish you would quit biting your sissy!!!!!

Braelyn - You have become a very picky eater! You will mostly only eat noodles right now. Your favorite is mac and cheese and pumpkin pasta. Usually your sisser eats her plate and half of yours!!!! You come up to me every couple of minutes while we are playing and hug me. Momma loves it:) You have so many bite marks on you from sisser. You usually get her back though by hitting her which I wish you would quit:)

Love,
Momma

I kept my best friend from high schools boy, Luke, last week. Braelyn and Bailey loved having someone new to play with. Not sure how he felt about it since he was outnumbered with girls! You can check out her blog here.

Prayer Request

A young boy that was supposed to start his Freshman year of High School this week is now fighting for his life with bacterial meningitis. He is on a ventilator and the doctors have said there is nothing more they can do - it is in our God's hands now. Well, we all know those are the best hands to be in. Join me in praying for Will Mathews. I do not know him but am always happy to pray and pass on a need. You can stay up to date on facebook by joining praying for Will Mathews.

Uplifting Verses

So I have been feeling lately that there is some way that I can glorify my Lord with this blog. It seems that when I am down I can get on the computer and someone on facebook, etc will have a verse that seems just meant for me that lifts me back. Here is a verse that spoke to me this week:

Matthew 5:8
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.

This verse reminds me of Braelyn and Bailey. If we all could have the heart of a child, the world would be such a better place!

some of my favorite things

So i have seen several of your blogs that have your favorite things on there. I really enjoy reading those so I thought i would share a few of my favs lately.

I got this new trashcan from Costco last month and it is absolutely my favorite purchase this summer. It is touchless which I love because I am constantly putting things in the trashcan and then going to pick up the girls and I don't like having to wash my hands every 3 seconds. I have had the kind that you can open with your foot and with my luck, they break! Mine is the 21 gallon one which is somewhat larger than the one pictures, but I highly recommend any of them.

Being the mother of two one year olds, I am always looking for things to supply me with lots of energy:) I love Advocare's Spark product because it is sugar free, aspartame free, but still has a little bit of caffeine which has helped me cut down on my soda intake greatly!

And then there's the current book I am reading. I love a good murder mystery and highly recommend Nancy Grace's "Eleventh Victim."

What are some of your favorite things??????

Pumpkin Pasta Soup

I am always trying to find food that I can make the girls that they will eat so they are not constantly eating the pre packaged foods I get at Wal-Mart because most of the time that is the only food they will eat:(

This was a hit at our house tonight with everyone, even Twain. Bailey will pretty much eat anything that she can put in her mouth but Braelyn has became very picky so it is hard to get a well balanced meal in her daily. And yes, I make my kids eat healthy and I know it doesn't sound very good but trust me if Twain will eat it, then it doesn't taste healthy..ha!

Pumpkin Pasta Soup

In a small sauce pain, melt 1 tbsp of butter. Add 1 tbsp of finely chopped onion and saute for about 30 seconds. Add 1 cup of pumpkin puree, 1 tbsp of apple puree, 2 cups of low sodium natural chicken broth, 1/8 tsp of all spice and 1/8 tsp of thyme. Bring to a boil and then add 1 cup of alphabet noodles ( I can't get them at our local grocery store so I use small macaroni noodles). Cook for about 10 minutes.Serving size is about 2 1/2 cups so you may want to double it if you are cooking for a family.

Enjoy!

On another note, we are still packing. I have decided that I despise packing and it has just started...:( Ugh! I have decided that I am not cut out for building a house because I know I would take the decisions I am currently having to make and multiply then by a million! Since this is a new construction, we are having to pick out blinds, rugs, some appliances, and fence material. The only easy one is the fence - the rest has made my stress levels go through the roof trying to picture it in my mind what it would look like in the house and not on the Lowe's showroom floor!!!!! I am just currently fighting tooth and nail to try to keep Twain from planting weird legume scientist crap in my front yard!!!!!!!!!!!! Those of you who have seen the current house know exactly where I am coming from.....
