Looking Back

As the holidays are ending, I find myself looking back two years and extremely blessed I am to have Braelyn and Bailey in my life. I don't even remember my life before stretchmarks and fatigue!! I wouldn't go back to it for anything either.

I remember being in the oprating room like it was yesterday. Full of anxiety that they would be okay coming five weeks early. Braelyn was born first and within seconds, I heard her cry and knew she was alright. Then there was Bailey. I will never forget what I said when the nurse walked by and showed me Bailey. I said, " she is so tiny!" I had never even seen a baby so short!!!
Braelyn weighed four pounds, 7 ounces and Bailey weighed four pounds. They were both 17" long. Back then our lives were full of round the clock feedings, checking body temperature, making sure they both always had two blankets wrapped around them and a hat on so they didn't lose body temperature. We couldn't leave the house for two months! I remember dreaming about the day I could just hold them and not all these blankets on them too!

And now, 21 months and 22 pounds later, our days are filled with trying to decide if we are going to play in the playhouse or with the kitchen and watching Dora, Spongebob, and Mickey Mouse. One of their favorite places to go is gymnastics.

It is days like this when I reminisce through photos that I long to have another baby. Oh how I wish I could have the experience again of seeing the first sonogram or the doctor telling you for the first time if your baby is a boy or girl. But I know when we adopt, the feeling will be just the same and we will love he/she the same as we do the girls. I thank God every day that we are all healthy, happy, and ready for what 2011 will bring us!
